This protoplasm in suspended animation was discovered on the planet SR388. It was recently discovered that it can be reactivated and will multiply when exposed to beta rays for 24 hours. It is suspected that the entire civilzation of planet SR388 was destroyed by some unknown person or thing, and there is a strong possibility that the life-form just discovered was the cause of the planet's destruction. It was originally in the possession of the Galactic Federation, but was soon after kidnapped by space pirates. For one, it tends to like to cling to you and drain your energy... which stings. Secondly, it's a tough little fella. On the plus side, if you wail on it with something really cold, it'll freeze (what with it being jello-y and all), after which you can smash the piss out of it. Missiles are the prefered smashing weapon.

These strange life forms are generally free-roaming, and it's not often that Samus, Kraid, or anyone else really runs across one astray from the rest of the pack. However, the rest of the pack itself has as of lately been held in the general vicinity of the Metroid Containment Area, thanks to the ever-useful Metroid-herder Speedy. However, recent breaches in the containment area have led to several escaping, running amok. One of them in particular has sworn a vengeance against Kabutroid for putting her kind there, and is attempting to kill him, or anyone she thinks is a friend of him. Several others have escaped as well, but all of the escapees have long since been eradicated.
